Who we are

Bridging the gap between education and the workforce.

CBM Mentorship Program was founded in 2022 by Muthoni Maina, inspired by her own journey through law school and the challenges of navigating a career she knew little about without the guidance of a mentor. What began as a mission to help high school students make informed career choices has grown into a structured career development initiative supporting learners across different education levels. Through engaging with thousands of professionals, Muthoni discovered a common thread behind many successful careers: the power of mentorship. Today, CBM Mentorship Program exists to bridge that gap by connecting young Kenyans with the guidance, skills, and professional networks they need to thrive—from the classroom to the workplace—while ensuring that access to life-changing mentorship is available to both those who can afford it and those who cannot.

Students in mentorship
Our belief

Every student deserves a mentor who has walked the path ahead.

Through career guidance, industry-specific mentorship and accelerator programs that prepare students for employment and entrepreneurship, we are making that access a reality — one workshop, one cohort, one conversation at a time.

What drives us

Four commitments at our core

Our work is driven by a simple belief: young people make better career decisions when they have access to the right information, the right people and the right opportunities. These four commitments shape how we build our programmes, work with our partners and engage every young person who comes through our community.

01

People First

We lead with respect, empathy and dignity.

Every person has a story, strengths and potential worth recognising. We value the contribution of every student, mentor, partner and member of our team, and we create spaces where people feel heard, respected and empowered to contribute.

02

Everyone Belongs

We believe career opportunity should be accessible to everyone.

We are committed to creating inclusive programmes that bring people along, regardless of their background or circumstances. We strive to create a level playing field where every young person can access information, guidance, mentorship and opportunities to explore their potential.

03

We Own the Impact

We take responsibility for the work we do and the difference we make.

We hold ourselves accountable to the young people we serve, our mentors, partners and supporters. We act with integrity, take ownership of our commitments and continuously seek to improve the quality and impact of our programmes.

04

Community & Industry

We believe career development happens through connection.

We are building a community where young people can learn from those who have walked the path before them and build meaningful professional relationships. Our mentorship is industry-led, bringing together professionals, founders and entrepreneurs who offer real-world insight, while fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and paying it forward.
